Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
