Netflix Chooses Spot-On Performer for Bentham in One Piece Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the major clash isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a cherished, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

Netflix announced Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Bon Clay. The role possesses the power to change into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve touched with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will depict a version of that role reimagined as non-binary, rather than as a drag queen, in the live-action series, differing from the source material and cartoon version.

Escola is joined by multiple recently announced actors who will portray Baroque Works to reality, such as head Mr. 0, played by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the cast as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Although this character is a important part of Baroque Works, the character will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Given the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this signals a notable change in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate additional alterations to the story’s structure.

The actor’s combination of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the role. Along with their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is due to premiere for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
