Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Live coverage includes text commentary of the weekend matchups via multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available through designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six in the NFL season and following last week's discussion regarding two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests were the number of penalties each committed. The Eagles did so in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this weekend.

But it was positive to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall before direct three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.

The Broncos boast the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They are first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that battle.

They had the Eagles' number regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily sending extra defenders instead they could position two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.

At the start of the season, it was noted on a program how Denver might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this season's dark horses?

New TE Evan Engram has excelled big and new running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes and maintains in favourable situations.

This has benefited QB Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He boasts incredible passing ability, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.

His assets are his mobility, being able to throw while moving, and using varied release points to make the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to deliver precision throws across the middle or past defenders.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able pass in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and is quick to decide.

When you constantly run the ball it eats up time and makes the defence to stay in play extended periods, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the area vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton during games sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for the coach to have a young quarterback that is kind of like play-dough. He can truly build something up the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for him.

The head coach owns a championship and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen everything. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are having offensively is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB aids make him what he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to face an elite team at its best? Because that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're working better than most, which is a solid position to hold their division. All they need to do to continue this path.

They excel at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and that's exactly what they must do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.

Since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers in five outings, this is surprising considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the division.

This hinges on what version of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
